NECK LIFT
A "neck lift" or tightening of the skin of the neck is more like a "redraping" of the skin. Different methods are involved with neck lifts, and your initial consultation with Dr. Crais will dictate which technique will work best. Many times the surgeon tightens the underlying muscle and removes fat, making incisions at strategic and less conspicuous places.
Procedure
Neck lifts are procedures usually performed with local anesthesia. Incisions release the neck muscles from the skin, and then those muscles are pulled tight. Next, the skin is tightened with any excess removed.
Vertical neck lifts are also frequently performed, which include liposuction around the neck and under the chin.
Quitting smoking, avoiding alcohol, and staying away from fatty or sugary foods are all very important before surgery. Certain medications, such as anti-inflammatory drugs, may also have to be avoided weeks before the surgery as they may interfere with the body's healing process.
