RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty is an operation performed to change the shape, size, or appearance of the nose and is also called a nose job. This surgery involves reshaping the nasal cartilage and or nasal bone. Rhinoplasty aims to produce a more natural and harmonious contour that beautifies the face. Reconstructive Rhinoplasty can open blocked nasal passages caused by crooked, twisted, collapsed cartilage or bone. Sometimes, the procedure can be with both of the goals mentioned above.
Procedure
Rhinoplasty may be open or closed. Closed Rhinoplasty is a newer and more frequently used technique. During a closed procedure, the surgeon works from within the nose. The patient does not end up with a scar. This technique is for more simple procedures. Open Rhinoplasty is often resorted to if the surgeon needs to make significant changes to the nose.
Ideal patients for Rhinoplasty will be in good health and have realistic expectations. We've all seen pictures of celebrities with bad nose jobs. Our philosophy is that a nose must look "natural" after surgery.
Before undergoing Rhinoplasty, Dr. Crais thoroughly examines the nose for any septal deviation and breathing issues that need to be considered. Additional steps ensure the nose will work properly and fulfill the patient's aesthetic goals.
At that time, our staff will provide financial information. If the purpose of your Rhinoplasty is functional, we can help with approval from your insurance carrier.
